A snowy engagement in Libertyville, IL
Diana and Joe snuggled up on a chilly February day in Libertyville for their engagement session with Kristin La Voie Photography!
After three years of the ‘honeymoon stage’ we find ourselves in a car driving through the night for 16 hours to get to Canada for my family’s reunion. Did I mention there was our three month old baby crying too in the backseat? I think it’s safe to say that we’ve seen better days. But we finally reach our destination, which happened to be the town my granny had grown up in, and we find ourselves in the midst of a nature lovers’ paradise. At just about the edge of civilization, we went on early morning kayaking trips, all day fishing excursions, and all night parties full of wine, fried fish and family. The baby was an outdoorsman from the beginning. Our vacation was coming to a conclusion, so we decided to tour the downtown area before we left. At the end of our walk, we toured the garden of a church just down the road from my granny’s childhood home. Joe got down on one knee, and I just about immediatley end up in a fit of giggles. Quickly, he stands back up again, oh no, did I make him feel bad? The ring was in his pocket and he couldn’t get it out while kneeling. Now with both of us laughing out of joy, and probably a little bit of nervousness, he opens the box, and it’s a ring better than I could have ever even picked out by myself. And what do I say? “Well, put it on!” I’m so smooth with my words sometimes. He tells me that this is the church where my granny and papa started their lives together and that this is where we will as well. The moment couldn’t be any more perfect. We go back to the house, and my whole family is there to celebrate with us. My mom tells me his original idea was to bait my hook and attach the ring to the fishing line. Thank god he didn’t, because that would have been one expensive fish! ~ Diana
