A backyard wedding with DIY details in Princeton, NJ
Kristie and John were married in her parents’ backyard – a celebration overflowing with DIY details and special, personal touches. Kristie put frames of all the married guests on the trees in the backyard, and the mothers of the bride and groom walked down the aisle with their dogs! John’s mom made the save-the-dates and the invitations, and friends designed the menus. The arbor and flower boxes were built by Kristie’s dad, and her mom made all the napkins and fabric streamers. The neighbors spent months collecting wine bottles for the table centerpieces. In memory of Kristie’s grandpa, the wedding favors were jars of candy from the Swedish candy story in the West Village, Sockerbit. The ceremony itself was a combination of Unitarian and Buddhist vows officiated by a close friend, the Reverend Mark Denoncour, who earned his title specifically for this occasion.
