Melissa and Thomas planned an adorable camping engagement session with Melissa Stallings Photography, complete with flannel shirts, a campfire and s’mores, and a tent! They started in late afternoon with some sweet photos with patchwork quilts, and they transitioned into nighttime snuggled together by the fire.

A DIY wedding with burlap, mason jars & cotton in Southwick, MA

I featured Alysha + Joe’s engagement session at Chatham Light Beach last year, and today I get to share their wonderful wedding in Southwick, Massachusetts! Alysha made the entire day incredibly personal with lots of DIY details, and dani. fine photography captured their special day!

The inspiration behind our wedding was a rustic elegance with touches of hydrangea blue, burlap and mason jars. I am a wedding photographer so the hardest part was finding a venue with meaning to us that I hadn’t already shot many weddings at. When we found The Ranch we instantly fell in love with it, it was the perfect venue for us. I love details, so having a wedding full of personal details was important to me. Because I’m a creative person most of our wedding details were DIY. One of my favorite details that I put together was the Message in a Bottle. I knew I wanted to be able to relive our wedding, on our anniversaries, so we took four different wine bottles and put labels with different years on them. We wrote a sign called “message in a bottle” asking our guests to write us a little note with advice, love, or fun memories to help remind us of our special day. Another favorite detail of mine was the Just Married sign that I made. I tied it along the back of the antique truck we drove to our reception. We have so many favorite moments of the day, from running through the rain to hop in our antique truck, sipping sweet tea at our cocktail hour to our first dance. The wedding day went by so fast! My advice to all brides is to enjoy every moment of the day. The whole wedding exceeded my expectations in every way possible, we could not be happier… I only wish we could do it all over again! ~ Alysha

Tracey + Brian’s Old Daley Inn Wedding by Scott Kretschmann Photography

A peacock-themed wedding in Averill Park, NY

Tracey and Brian had a beautiful interfaith peacock-themed wedding at the Old Daley Inn on Crooked Lake. They focused on the rich blues and greens of peacock feathers, including peacock shoes for the bride and a bouquet adorned with brooches and feathers. The guys wore gray tuxes and custom Chucks. The ceremony took place under a chuppah made of many fabrics from their families, such as wedding dresses and tallits, accented by leaves and branches. The reception was decorated with blue and green linens, and the tables were named after important things to the couple like Indian Ladder Farms (where Tracey and Brian got engaged) or the Beatles, in honor of their first dance. A pink and navy DIY wedding in New York City

Monica and David got married in a classically elegant, nautical chic summer ceremony at Battery Gardens in Manhattan. They met at St. Francis Prep, a private Catholic school in Queens. He was an athlete and she was a cheerleader, but their love story didn’t start until later in life, when a mutual friend introduced them. Concept Photography captured their beautiful day, filled with DIY details!

Dave and I had searched for the perfect venue for months, a place that would accurately represent who we are. After visiting Battery Gardens, we knew that this would be the perfect place to celebrate our love with our family and friends. Battery Gardens is located at the southernmost tip of Manhattan island, where the East and Hudson Rivers meet. Inspired by its surroundings and our summertime celebration, we decided to use a flair of chic nautical. Using navy blue and hot pink accents, we chose decorative elements that would complement the venue. We then worked with a floral designer to create centerpieces that would complement the evening’s harbor views.

When it came to decor, I tried to keep uniformity stylistically and in color. I was very aware that overwhelming the space with decor would backfire. The combination of the centerpieces, with the decor/table settings we had created and the lighting balanced well and accomplished the tasteful beauty we had hoped for. We also love the miniature house gift and card holder that my sister had specially made for us, which had our names and wedding date on it. It also turns into a mailbox, which makes it all the more special.

By far, the most memorable moment was the moment we said, “I do.” Dave and I were lucky enough to have met at a young age. So when that moment finally that we had talked about so many times came, I felt like there was no one else around, it was just the two of us, taking our vows. I was so excited and overwhelmed. I could never forget how special that moment felt. ~ Monica

Kristy is just one of an entire family of librarians, so it only made sense to incorporate a book theme into her wedding day! (Although I’ll bet you’ve never seen a librarian wearing shoes that sparkly!) I love the library card catalogs, in particular. Kristy and Daniel got married in October at The Stockade Inn, and Jeff Foley Photography even made time to take some photos of the couple at the Schenectady Public Library.

Sylvia + Stevan’s Arizona Snowbowl Wedding by Tangled Lilac Photography

Sylvia and Stevan met in Flagstaff when she was finishing college. They had a lot of mutual friends and immediately felt a connection. They since moved to Stevan’s home state of Washington, but they wanted their wedding to be held in the mountain town in which they met. They were married on the deck of the Arizona Snowbowl Resort, surrounded by family, friends and wildflowers! As guests arrived, they signed into a book Stevan crafted himself. He also made the wine box they used during the ceremony. Their day was perfect and filled with lots of special details, as captured by Tangled Lilac Photography.
